North Shore Window & Doors specializes in Custom Window & Doors for High End Residential projects. We currently employ over 30 Team Members including Project Managers, engineers, drafters, field installation, and administrative staff.

Position Summary:
  • Job Title: Drafter
  • Department: Cad Department
  • Reports to: Operations Manager
  • Schedule: Monday – Friday 8:30am – 4:30pm, overtime as needed.
  • The Drafter is responsible for understanding the scope of work, technical shop drawings that align with the design intention, context conditions, hardware requirements.
  • The Drafter is asked to maintain an open-minded communication with the Department’s team, which would allow an appropriate flow of work and an accurate understanding of the products being presented in the drawings.
  • It is important for this position to have awareness of time management and rapport accordingly so that the drafting schedule could be synchronized with the ordering process.
Essential Functions:
  • Review the scope of the work with the Salesman in charge of the job; analyze the contract agreement and determine the parameters to be followed when drafting the project.
  • Make a list of questions to be asked related to the contract or to any contradictions in unit configuration, glass make-up and sizes, hardware or finishes etc.
  • There is a possibility of having to visit the site with the Project Manager to field verify measurements and conditions.
  • In some cases, a meeting with the design team includes the participation of the drafter in charge of the project.
  • Represent details for each unit type including hardware; discuss these details with the Drafting Manager and then with the Project Manager for the job.
  • After receiving revised details the drafter is to prepare a full submittal (unit’s drawings include hardware as well as glass, finishes and alignments) which include the window and door schedule.
  • Submit list of questions to the Project Manager with outstanding issues.
  • Continue drafting until all units are approved by the Architect and/or Contractor, at that point a record set of drawings is to generated and signed in order to proceed with documentation.
  • Proficiency in AUTOCAD
  • Drafting and Geometry visualization
  • Ability to communicate and make decisions in a timely manner
  • Preferably Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture or Engineering
  • Fenestration knowledge a plus
